Aquaman was a blockbuster hit for DC and WB. It grossed 1billion+ globally and made Jason Momoa the most desirable man in Hollywood. However, his co-star was involved in a different matter altogether. Amber Heard was involved in a bitter legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp over abuse allegations. Depp seemed to have provided proof of abuse from Amber’s side and as a result, fans wanted Amber out of Aquaman 2.
Now, a Forbes article seems to have made those fan wishes come true.
Amber Heard Getting Replaced With Emilia Clark?
A new report from Forbes by lifestyle writer Keith Flamer seems to have confirmed for many that Clarke will be donning the green suit and playing Xebel princess Mera. But the original article wasn’t about Aquaman or even Amber Heard. It was about Emilia Clarke and the sale of her Venice, California house for $4.4 million.
In the middle of the article, Flamer wrote that Clarke had signed on to replace controversial actress Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. The surprising thing about the quote is that it seems to have been randomly inserted in the article. However, the biggest issue with this is that there’s no retraction or correction that got printed right at the very end.
Why Is Everyone Believing This?
The only reason people are paying so much attention to this specific line in a lifestyle article is because the article was published by a reputable trade- Forbes. However, the lack of a source or the fact that this replacement news isn’t the major headline of the article is making people pause a little. Not to mention the fact the article is not in the correct section. It should have been labelled as entertainment and not the lifestyle.
What Is The Truth?
For now, there’s been no official news from WB or DC regarding Amber Heard’s firing. In fact, as far as we know, Aquaman 2 will begin production soon and Amber Heard will be reprising her role as Mera. It also looks like WB isn’t in a hurry to get rid of her. All the petitions calling for Amber Heard’s firing and replacing her with Emilia Clarke is gaining signatures, but WB is simply not looking at that. In fact, as per the UK court which ruled in favour of Heard, she is an abuse survivor and looks like she is that as well for WB.
It also doesn’t make sense for WB to fire her now. After all, they already fired Depp from the Harry Potter spin-off movies. So right now, it looks like WB has chosen their side and it’s with Heard. But it doesn’t look like they are throwing their full weight behind her. There are reports which say that WB will be reducing Heard’s screentime and giving it to another female character- Dolphin in Aquaman 2.
As for Emilia Clarke, her involvement in Aquaman 2 is unclear at best. For all we know, it could all be just a rumour spread by fans who don’t want to see Heard in the movie. However, for now, you will be seeing Amber Heard as Mera in Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming this March to HBO Max. But, if we hear anything more about the article or about Emilia Clarke replacing Amber Heard, then we will keep you updated.
